Programme overview
The Turkish programme follows an A1–A2–B1 progression, beginning with the alphabet, pronunciation and useful everyday expressions. You develop speaking, listening, reading and writing together through practical themes and live instruction, online or onsite.
Turkish builds much of its meaning through suffixes. Guided practice connects vowel harmony, word order and grammatical endings to complete sentences, so that you learn to recognise patterns and use them in your own communication.
The learning context includes daily life, further study and work in Turkish-speaking settings. Cultural attention includes forms of address, polite requests and how language changes with the situation. A university or other institution may require a specific external qualification beyond this programme’s current level range.
Who this programme is for
Beginners and continuing learners developing Turkish for everyday communication, further study and mobility.
A1, A2 and B1 describe CEFR learning levels. TYS is a separate external proficiency examination at higher levels than Europa’s current Turkish programme. A Europa B1 course does not award a TYS certificate or guarantee admission to a university.
Review the starting point, language skills and intended outcomes at each stage.
Begin with the sounds and spelling of Turkish, then build short sentences for introductions and familiar everyday needs.
No previous Turkish is required. The Turkish alphabet and its distinctive letters are introduced from the beginning.
Practise introductions, ordering simple items, asking for directions and requesting repetition using familiar polite expressions.
Identify names, numbers, times and familiar information in short, clearly delivered dialogues.
Read the Turkish Latin alphabet, including ç, ğ, ı, ö, ş and ü, in signs, menus and simple messages.
Write personal details, simple descriptions and short everyday messages with attention to Turkish spelling.
Sound and spelling practice introduces useful expressions before sentence-building and short everyday tasks. Suffix patterns recur across themes; the final timetable and teaching hours will be announced.
Work towards simple, supported exchanges and short written messages using familiar Turkish patterns. Assessment and completion arrangements will be confirmed with the intake details.
Extend basic Turkish to describe routines and past activities, make arrangements and handle familiar practical situations.
An A1 foundation in Turkish spelling, simple sentence patterns, common suffixes and everyday questions and answers.
Arrange meetings, explain simple needs and describe a routine, a recent event or a planned activity.
Follow essential details in clear conversations, short announcements and practical messages.
Read notices, simple emails and short descriptions, using familiar endings to follow who does what and when.
Write invitations, personal messages and short accounts with suitable time expressions and sentence links.
Practical themes extend tense and suffix use while integrating conversation, listening and short text tasks. The confirmed class schedule, independent study expectations and materials are to be announced.
Aim to take part in routine exchanges with less support and communicate familiar events in short connected texts. External qualification requirements should be checked separately.
Use connected Turkish to explain experiences, discuss familiar topics and give reasons for plans and opinions.
An A2 foundation, including familiar tense forms, common case and possessive endings, and short connected communication.
Discuss study, work and everyday issues, explain a problem and respond to another person's view with relevant detail.
Follow connected conversations and short talks on familiar subjects, identifying the main point and supporting information.
Read accessible articles, correspondence and practical instructions, recognising how suffixes connect ideas within longer sentences.
Organise personal accounts, explanatory emails and short opinion texts with appropriate connectors and time references.
The indicative sequence develops narration and explanation through longer reading, listening, discussion and writing tasks. Teaching hours, study load and assessment arrangements will be published before enrolment.
Work towards independent communication on familiar subjects while continuing to build accuracy and range. This general B1 course does not award a TYS certificate or establish eligibility for a particular university.
