Programme overview
French study at Europa moves from A1 foundations to A2 and B1. The programme brings pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar into the same conversation, reading and writing tasks, so that you can use what you learn.
Listening is especially important when the written word and spoken sound differ. Guided practice in online and onsite classes works on recognising familiar phrases, speaking clearly and building progressively longer messages.
The learning context includes everyday life, study and work across the French-speaking world. If your plans involve a university or an official process, check its accepted certificate and required score before choosing an examination.
Who this programme is for
Learners starting French or building an existing foundation for study, mobility and everyday communication.
The programme uses CEFR levels A1, A2 and B1. DELF is a separate external qualification. Enrolment at Europa does not include a DELF award or imply examination-centre status.
Review the starting point, language skills and intended outcomes at each stage.
Learn the sounds and essential patterns of French, then use short expressions in familiar situations.
No previous French is required.
Practise greetings, basic requests, introductions and simple questions with attention to French pronunciation.
Recognise familiar words, prices, times and personal details in short, clear exchanges.
Read signs, menus, brief messages and simple descriptions with familiar vocabulary.
Write a short introduction, fill in personal details and compose simple everyday messages.
Pronunciation and useful expressions introduce each theme before guided conversation and short text tasks. Contact hours, class frequency and final materials will be announced.
Work towards simple communication with a patient conversation partner and basic written responses. Assessment details will be confirmed before enrolment.
Build confidence in common situations and connect simple ideas about your routine, experiences and plans.
An A1 foundation in basic questions, present-tense sentences, familiar vocabulary and short listening tasks.
Make invitations, discuss plans, explain simple needs and describe everyday experiences.
Pick out key details from clear announcements, telephone-style messages and short conversations.
Find specific information in notices, emails, brochures and simple instructions.
Write short personal messages, invitations and descriptions of familiar events.
Themes combine practical exchanges with past events and plans. Reading and listening provide models for short speaking and writing tasks; final scheduling remains to be announced.
Aim to manage familiar exchanges and write understandable short texts with greater independence. An external DELF result requires a separate examination.
Develop the connected language needed to describe experiences, explain views and manage many familiar situations.
An A2 foundation, including everyday transactions, common past and future expressions and short connected messages.
Discuss familiar study, work and social topics, explain a problem and respond to another point of view.
Follow clear interviews, discussions and short reports, identifying the topic and important details.
Read accessible articles, explanations and correspondence, distinguishing main ideas from supporting details.
Organise a personal account, an explanatory email or a short opinion text with suitable linking language.
The outline develops narration, explanation and discussion through longer tasks that bring the four skills together. Confirmed assessment criteria and teaching hours will be published with the intake.
Work towards connected, independent communication on familiar subjects. A B1 course is not a guarantee of admission to a French-language degree programme.
